AESTHETICS AND RESTORATIONS

Cosmetic dentistry is the branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the visual appearance of teeth and smiles, harmoniously integrating oral health with facial aesthetics, thus combining science and art. Currently, trends place a major emphasis on personalized smile architecture and the use of digital technologies for the most natural results. Among the main procedures in cosmetic dentistry are: professional tooth whitening, dental jewelry (skyce), aesthetic restoration with composite, although they are part of the prosthetics category, in recent times even dental veneers are attributed to the branch of dental aesthetics.

1. Professional teeth whitening

Teeth whitening involves a chemical process that uses peroxide compounds (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide) in the form of gels. These gels are applied to the teeth and a chemical reaction occurs. Upon contact with the teeth, the peroxides decompose and release oxygen ions that combine with the “color” molecules in the tooth structure and increase their solubility, resulting in degradation products: water, oxygen and ammonia that are normally present in the body. Diet can be one of the causes of tooth yellowing. Coffee, red wine, chocolate, black tea, berries or other dark-colored fruits, carbonated drinks and especially cigarettes have a strong effect on the teeth and lead, over time, to dental dyschromia. Professional teeth whitening is the easiest and most comfortable way to restore the brightness of your smile in a single visit to the dentist's office. This is one of the dental aesthetic procedures through which the doctor restores patients' well-being and self-confidence.

Our clinic offers two teeth whitening methods, in the office and at home: teeth whitening in the clinic is usually performed in 2 sessions where the special gel is activated with the WHITEsmile lamp, for the at-home procedure, individual trays are made according to the impression of your teeth, you are given the whitening system and the steps to follow are explained to you.

Advantages of teeth whitening:

  • whiter and brighter teeth
  • quickly visible results
  • safe methods for enamel

2. Dental jewelry(skyce)

In recent years, dental aesthetics has shown a trend towards the application of small dental jewelry (Skyce). These modern jewelry are designed to decorate enamel. Skyce products are usually made of rock crystal or glass. Swarovski brand items are also used as dental decorations. On the outside, Skyce products closely resemble diamonds, and their sparkle creates a special effect.

Dental jewelry is applied using a fluid composite that does not cause damage to the enamel or dentin. The procedure takes no more than 20 minutes and does not harm the dental structures, as the applications are made of inert materials that do not react to chemical or physical factors. Removing dental jewelry is simple and can be done at any time in the dental office, without the risk of damaging the enamel.

Advantages of dental jewelry:

  • adds an unique touch to your smile
  • form of self-expression
  • the skyce shines impressively in the sun
  • does not affect the tooth structure
  • not-toxic, do not cause allergies

3. Aesthetic restorations with composite

Direct aesthetic restoration with composite (aesthetic filling) is a direct dental procedure, performed in a single visit, that repairs decayed, fractured or worn teeth. Using modern materials (micro/nano-composites) the doctor restores the natural shape, function and color of the tooth. This aesthetic method is resistant, conservative (does not require aggressive grinding) and ideal for the frontal area.

Thanks to direct composite restoration, the doctor can completely restore the shape of the tooth, including imitating all its layers (incisal edge, dentin and enamel), taking into account their optical properties and natural shade.

Aesthetic restoration of teeth is necessary in various cases, such as: correction of irregular shapes and sizes, elimination of gaps between teeth, including restoration of destroyed front teeth, filling of diastema and trema, restoration of incisal edges, reconstruction of chipped/cracked teeth, correction of tooth shade.

Advantages of direct restoration:

  • excellent aesthetic appearance
  • fast procedure
  • preserves healthy dental tissue
